Addis ababa: Vice President of Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party (PP) and Head of the Democratic System Building Center with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, Adem Farah stressed that the youth need to pursue a shared vision and play a key role in the nation-building endeavors.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event marking the closing of the youth wing of PP, held under the theme ‘The role of Youths in State Building’, was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Peace. Ethiopia has been implementing visions in economic, political, social, and diplomatic spheres to achieve multispectral goals, Adem added. He highlighted the country’s larger population, with a predominant youth demographic and abundant natural resources, emphasizing the government’s efforts to ensure the youth’s constructive role in peacebuilding and development.

Adem cited initiatives like the 5 million coders initiative and various technical and vocational training programs aimed at helping young people become global citizens. He remarked on the empowerment of young individuals to assume leadership roles, noting that over half of the leadership positions, starting from the woreda level, are held by those under 35 years old. The government has been implementing the Green Legacy Initiative and developing corridors to spearhead the nation’s development aspirations and boost productivity.

He underlined the indispensable role of the youth in upholding the country’s sovereignty and their expected participation in national agendas and decision-making. Young people are encouraged to prioritize peaceful dispute resolution through dialogue and consultation and to use their formative years for self-development.

He urged the youth to focus not only on personal growth but also to actively participate in initiatives that contribute to the country’s broader advancement.
