Addis Ababa: The first phase completion of the Kasanchis segment of the corridor development project in Addis Ababa is the result of the collective commitment and hard work among the government and the private sectors, Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration, Adanech Abiebie remarked.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, speaking at a banquet organized for those who supported the project, Mayor Adanech Abiebie highlighted that the first phase of the Kasanchis segment was completed to the required standard within a five-month period through collaboration between government institutions and the private sector. She emphasized that this project demonstrated the potential of such collaboration to achieve high-quality results in a short span of time.
The Mayor noted that the completion of this phase marked a significant milestone in modernizing the urban landscape into a smart city. She emphasized that the corridor development project is aimed at improving living standards for all city residents. The Kasanchis area, previously a dilapidated section uncomfortable for residents, has undergone a remarkable transformation, adding aesthetic appeal to the city.
In an effort to ensure dignified living conditions, the residents of the Kasanchis area were relocated to new environments with better amenities and a sense of community. According to the mayor, the relocation process focused on humane resettlement practices.
The renewed infrastructure and urban design in the Kasanchis area are fostering community engagement and social cohesion. Modern public spaces, parks, and recreational facilities are part of the development plan, encouraging residents to engage with one another and participate in community activities.
Mayor Adanech stressed that the completion of Kasanchis’ transformation in such a short time lays a solid foundation for future smart city initiatives.
