THE MINISTRY FOR THE ECONOMY AND INDUSTRY iGaming company PressEnter chooses Malta as its headquarters from among other European countries and will create 150 new jobs

Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri announced a new investment to our country by iGaming company PressEnter, which has chosen Malta as its headquarters from among other European countries.

“With the announcement of its expansion plans and new six-storey headquarters in the heart of Sliema, PressEnter is a clear testament to the trust this industry has in this government’s policy. The company has quadrupled its workforce over the past year, and will continue to increase its workforce to 250, creating 150 new jobs,” said Minister Schembri.

Minister Schembri noted with satisfaction that 25% of the current workforce is Maltese. “This encourages us as a government to continue investing in education to ensure that Malta nurtures its talent in this sector. On our part as a government, we are in the process of attracting venture capital funds to make a specific investment in the field of video game development. In addition, we are committed to further bolstering our talent, so much so that, in the coming days, an agreement will be signed with UNITY so that lecturers can be trained to teach the language in this field,” he said.

Chief Executive of PressEnter Lahcene said that, when they were searching for a location to continue with their expansion, their focus fell on several European jurisdictions, but that it was immediately decided to expand in Malta.

“A key factor is that Malta offers the best sought after talent in this industry, as well as the support that this sector requires, including the good relationship between the regulator, the Malta Gaming Authority and Gaming Malta,” said Mr Lahcene.

Regarding Malta’s greylisting, Mr Lahcene stated that, despite this, Malta remains the best choice for several companies within the sector. On this subject, both Minister Schembri and Mr Lahcene noted the commitment on both sides so that everyone involved pulls the same rope, so that Malta emerges successfully from this list.

Chief Operating Officer of Gaming Malta Ivan Filletti pointed out how the iGaming sector is continuing to grow, as well as creating and welcoming new opportunities. “Seeing companies like PressEnter Group increase their activity and investment, along with highly talented workers, further strengthens Malta’s credentials as a ‘Home of Gaming Excellence’,” said Mr Filletti.
