Speaker of the House of Representatives Anglu Farrugia received a courtesy visit from Viktor Šimunic, Mayor of Oroslavje, a town and municipality in Krapina-Zagorje County in Croatia. The mayor was accompanied by the Mayor of St Paul’s Bay Local Council, Alfred Grima.

Speaker Farrugia welcomed Mr Šimunic and congratulated him on the twinning agreement between the Municipality of Oroslavje and the St Paul’s Bay Local Council. He commended the relations between Malta and Croatia and referred to the forthcoming State Visit of the President of Croatia.

Mr Grima said that the twinning agreement was signed in Oroslovje last February and added that he looked forward to organising activities with the Municipality of Oroslavje, which would enhance people-to-people contacts.

Mr Šimunic mentioned that Oroslavje is close to Zagreb, the capital city of the Republic of Croatia and Slovenia. He added that he was an independent candidate and had based his campaign on fighting against corruption. Mayor Šimunic said he was glad about the twinning agreement reached between his municipality and the St Paul’s Bay Local Council.
