Anchorage: U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Alaska on Friday for a high-stakes summit aimed at discussing the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump and Putin are holding a high-stakes meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. After arriving at a US military base, the two leaders took part in a choreographed red carpet greeting before getting into the same vehicle to depart for talks on Ukraine.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, in an interview with Bret Baier of Fox News on board Air Force One, Trump expressed his hopes for the talks to proceed successfully but emphasized his readiness to abandon the discussions if necessary. He predicted the meeting would ‘work out very well’ but added that ‘if it doesn’t, I’m going to head back home real fast.’ ‘I would walk, yeah,’ he stated.
The White House has announced that Trump will not be alone for his meeting with Putin, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff will accompany him. The post-meeting lunch will also include Rubio, Witkoff, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles.
